Sandwich counter in Peabody Conservatory

Mrs. Malinda Newton's sandwich counter in the 1960s. Located on the third floor of the Peabody Conservatory building, this was the only real "hang out" space at Peabody before the dorms and cafeteria were built. It was also one of the few places black students were allowed to eat in the neighborhood.
